ScottMadden, Inc., one of North America’s leading energy consulting firms, is pleased to join forces with Energy Central’s TransmissionHub to provide an interactive webinar, “Transmission in the East Outlook,” on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, from 1:00–2:00 PM EDT.
Cristin Lyons (http://www.scottmadden.com/bios/25/Cristin-Lyons.html
), partner and transmission, distribution, and Smart Grid practice leader at ScottMadden, and Kenneth Collison, vice president at ICF International, will join forces for a one-hour session to discuss the eastern interconnection. The eastern interconnection is undergoing unprecedented change, and the pace of that change will increase over the next few years. With more than 300 active transmission projects totaling more than 26,000 miles, the eastern interconnection is a hotbed of activity. Several factors are driving changes in transmission in the east, including the evolving generation landscape, the economy, smart transmission technologies, and electric and gas convergence. Ms. Lyons and Mr. Collison will describe current issues in the eastern interconnection and factors that will drive changes to the grid in the near term.
“The eastern interconnect is experiencing unprecedented change in the generation mix and availability of new and different resources to meet load. These are fundamentally changing the transmission landscape,” says Ms. Lyons.
