Two well known Destin hotels are closed for major renovations.

PRLog (Press Release) - Oct. 29, 2012 - The Holiday Inn is the only Destin hotel located directly on the beach. This leaves the Sandestin Hilton located 5 miles to the east and the Watercolor Inn about 20 miles east on Scenic Highway 30-A as the only remaining Destin area beachfront hotels.

With the Holiday Inn's capacity removed from the market, it seems reasonable to expect that reservations at the Hilton and at the Watercolor Inn could become more difficult to secure and possibly more expensive.

The Destin Hampton Inn is not located on the beach but is close enough to make walking to a public beach access practical. This closure will likely place additional reservation demands on remaining beachfront properties and others near the beach.

Although the Destin area hotel capacity will be reduced for at least a portion of 2013 there are many beachfront rental condo units available and some of these operate similar to hotels. The Henderson Park Inn, an adults only beachfront
bed & breakfast is also available.


In view of these changes, those planning to make reservations on or near the beach should do so sooner rather than later.
