The Bastille prison was a famous prison in Paris, France. The storming of the Bastille was a turning point in the French Revolution and the overthrowing of King Louis XIV.

Let's give you a quick view of the storming of the Bastille (http://bastilleprison.com/storming-of-the-bastille). It happened in on July 14th, 1789 and was a huge change in the French Revolution. Citizens in Paris, France needed gunpowder and ammunition to fight King Louis XIV. The Bastille was the only option, so they went to it and demanded they turn over the gunpowder and ammunition. Their requests were not granted, so they cut down the draw bridge and stormed into the Bastille. They freed the few prisoners, took all the gunpowder and ammunition, and killed the leader of the Bastille prison. Then, they hired contractors to knock it down.
