BUZZARD’S MYTH:  Hyde County Native’s Memoir Available at MATTIE Art Center

The novel Buzzard’s Myth is a fun ride through seven decades of adventure by Alva Harris, PhD, born in 1928 in Hyde County, NC. It’s a memoir; it’s history; some even say it’s too crazy to be true. Judge for yourself!

As a native of the North Carolina Coast, which he still calls home, he affectionately chronicles the wonders of these wetlands and small towns, and even a few decades fighting the Pacific (http://buzzardsmyth.com/recent-buzz) in the Coast Guard and as a salmon fisherman.

Alva’s very nature is adventure, and he lives it to the fullest. Starting from his youth as a Depression-era child, he rekindles those memories and teaches some history lessons about hunting, fishing, shrimping, and the whole new world of  *gasp* electricity (http://buzzardsmyth.com/recent-buzz). He holds our hands through seven decades of merriment, trepidation, and what some might call sheer luck!

As you walk into these vivid tales, you will enter a rabbit hole, one that is guaranteed to inspire, inform, and dance with you. And you’ll even find out what BUZZARD’S MYTH means!

Signed  copies will be available on October 27 during the opening of the new MATTIE Art Center in Swan Quarter. The Center is operated by the nonprofit group, the Friends of Hyde County’s Historic 1854 Courthouse, and is located on the first floor of the historic courthouse at 10 Oyster Creek Road. Hours are from 9 am until 5 pm. Books are also available at R. S. Spencer, Inc. in Engelhard andwww.buzzardsmyth.com or contact by contacting his publisher atwww.thewordverve.com .
