Home wind turbine buyers and sellers disconect?

Oct. 25, 2012 - PRLog -- Over the past few years different standard have been advertise by various manufacturers as what the important factors should be in buying a wind turbine for use in the residential domain. We have our opinion but want the public input of what there perception is the most important factors they look at when deciding what to buy.

Some brands have staked their entire reputation on country of origin. While we proudly build our products in the USA we have also seen some real garbage made right here. Yet this is enough to persuade many buyers. Others are focused on how much power a turbine is capable of delivering many times in wind speed that the product will ever see. At Hurricane we have always taken the approach that the power output over time is what is important, however we are regularly challenged on what seems to be sound logic to us.  Many of the accredited institutions and agencies that rate the power of a wind turbine will also look at durability or how long a given product will last.

Another big make it of break it point is whether the turbine is Vertical or Horizontal which seems to indicate some buyer care less about output in terms of power but go rather for form than function. It is a pretty widely accepted principle that horizontal wind turbines are more efficient that verticals however the Vawt market has skyrocketed.  In summary we are doing realignment of products and while I as the owner have my notions of what is important and what is not I Acknowledge the most important thing is to deliver what the market wants whether it be high wind or low wind performance, horizontal , vertical, durable, made in the USA hauled over on a boat or as a joke a piece of junk, we need to know.
