As a graduate of the McCoy College of Business Administration at Texas State University in San Marcos, Cook started his career with McCoy’s as a manager in training at the Tomball, TX location in 2010. After completing the management development program, he was promoted to assistant manager at the Alice, TX location and then gained valuable experience at the Bryan, TX location, where he transferred to continue to grow his management and leadership skills.
As a newcomer to Orange, Cook is excited to take on this leadership role and become actively involved in the community. “I look forward to getting to know more about my new hometown,” Cook says. “I’m ready to hit the ground running as a leader and role model for my team and our neighbors in Orange.”
When asked about future plans for the store Cook says the focus is simple. “I want McCoy’s to be the place to shop for building materials,” he explains. “We are committed to having an extensive product selection, a friendly and knowledgeable staff and a safe environment.”
He goes on to add that people can expect a superior shopping experience when they visit his store. “I’m proud of our team,” says Cook. “When customers shop with us, I want them to feel confident they’ll receive outstanding service. As an assistant manager, I had the opportunity to learn the business side of things but my goal as manager is to build lasting relationships with our customers, while providing the best value possible.”
Cook plans to further strengthen the reputation of McCoy’s in Orange by increasing delivery efficiencies and maintaining a tenured and knowledgeable staff. Regional Manager Waylon Walker expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to work with such a goal oriented and eager team member.
“I am excited about Mike’s broad spectrum of experience within the McCoy community,” Walker says. "He has the perfect balance of product knowledge and experience. With his talents and team support, the decision to transition him from assistant manager in Bryan to manager in Orange was easy.”
