Local Businesses Donate to the Gold Shield Foundation

PRLog (Press Release) - Oct. 25, 2012 - Tampa, FL - A group of prominent downtown businesses, including TECO, Tampa Bay Times Forum, Tampa Downtown Partnership, Fowler White Boggs, Sykes, SunTrust, Prida Guida & Company, Dohring Group, and Lykes donated $25,000 to the Gold Shield Foundation.  The donation was made on behalf of the Tampa Police Department and Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department for the exemplary work they did on keeping downtown Tampa safe during the Republican National Convention (RNC).  The check was presented to Chief Castor and Sherriff Gee at an event on Tuesday October 23, 2012 at the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City.

“We are very proud to help support the Gold Shield Foundation and the work they do to provide financial assistance at a time of need to the spouses and children of fallen Florida law enforcement officers and firefighters in the area,” said Rhea F. Law, CEO and Chair of Fowler White Boggs, who presented the donation.  “The cities of Tampa Bay and our local law enforcement led one of the most comprehensive, collaborative and successful efforts during the RNC that will undoubtedly become a model for future host locations.”    

The Gold Shield Foundation was founded to provide immediate financial assistance and insure a college education or vocational training for the spouse and dependent children of Florida law enforcement officers and firefighters of Hillsborough, Pinellas, Citrus, Hernando, Pasco, Polk and Marion Counties killed in the line of duty.
