Whole Foods team members are passionate about supporting local causes that are important to their shoppers and neighbors. When they polled their Facebook Fans asking for their favorite area charities, an overwhelming response came in for Quantum Leap Farm. In addition to all the great departments you expect from Whole Foods Market, the Carrollwood store will feature a Health Starts Here® station with a dedicated Healthy Eating Specialist, BBQ & Naan panini stations, an European-style bakery, over 750 wines and 400 beers, more than 250 hand-cut cheeses, coffee and juice bars, and an indoor cafe with outdoor patio.
Quantum Leap Farm, a 501 (c) (3) charity located in Odessa, Florida, was founded in 2000 to serve civilian adults and veterans with mental and physical disabilities. Quantum Leap Farm participants range in age from 3 to 92 years. They are diagnosed with a variety of conditions including wounds of war: traumatic brain injury, post traumatic stress disorder, and spinal cord injury, as well as neurodegenerative and vascular diseases: Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, and stroke; and developmental syndromes: muscular dystrophy, Down syndrome, autism, pediatric cancer and cerebral palsy. The farm provides therapeutic and recreational horseback riding, carriage driving, equine assisted behavioral health services, and a variety of equine experiential learning programs. Additionally they offer opportunities for individuals, students, or organizations to conduct community service projects, accumulate community service hours, and host a variety of family and corporate functions.
Operations Coordinator Mary Diana stated: “Quantum Leap Farm appreciates this opportunity to be a benefiting charity with such a community minded organization like Whole Foods. Being chosen to receive 1% of sales on their opening Saturday is the best! We look forward to a long and happy relationship with our new store Whole Food store right here in our backyard in Carrollwood.”
Quantum Leap Farm staff, volunteers, Board Members and participants will be in the Carrollwood store on Saturday, November 3, to meet and greet customers.
