Julie is determined to make the most of her father’s remaining time, despite her anguish and disappointment. Before long, however, Julie realizes all is not right in the fictional town of Cape Nema. Her cell phone never receives a signal, she has no computer connection and mail never arrives. Then there’s the ghost—a teenage boy—who haunts the forbidden, burned library of the mansion and an always-present fog.
“Julie has to learn how to be strong,” explained Adrian Lilly, author. “She realizes she was raised to be submissive, because her parents need a child who listens, obeys without question.”
The novel mixes elements of Gothic story-telling, noir, horror, the paranormal and romance as Julie meets Paul, another student who recently moved to the small town.
Julie is a heroine who must resolve to survive against formidable circumstances, while grappling with the fact that her parents were never who they seemed.
“The emotional journey is as integral to the story as the mystery Julie unravels regarding her parents’ drive to kill her,” Lilly said.
