Carrollton Depot Foundation Makes Its Debut During Festival At The Switchyards On November 3rd

PRLog (Press Release) - Oct. 24, 2012 - The newly formed Carrollton Depot Foundation will make its debut during the City of Carrollton’s Festival at the Switchyards this coming November 3, 2012. The 501-c3 was formed by interested citizens of Carrollton who wanted take steps to restore the old train depot for future generations to utilize and enjoy. The registered agent and founder Julie F. Hall, is currently a member of the Historic Preservation Committee of Carrollton . While serving on that committee, she conducted research on the depot’s history for placement of an historical marker on December 17, 2010, a few days after the DART Green Line opened in downtown Carrollton.

The mission of the organization is to assist in fund raising and support for the restoration of the historic Carrollton Train Depot so that future generations can make use of the building and appreciate its past.

Members are not required to live in the city of Carrollton, only to be dedicated to the cause of historical restoration of the Carrollton Depot for future generations.

Information about the Carrollton Depot Foundation along with activities for children will be housed in the Plaza Arts Theatre during the festival. Of note will be a model train railroad display being furnished by the North Texas T-Trak Modular Railroad Club in Plano, Texas, a slideshow display showing historic and current pictures of the Depot, a children’s activity area and a membership information booth.
