NEWS FLASH! $1 donation buys $8 of Food - Talk About Purchase Power!

Committee members announced that donation of $1 will allow qualifying food pantries to purchase $8 of food. Make A Difference Day Feed the Hungry Food Drive, Saturday, October 27, Briarwood Plaza, 2450-52 Kuser Road, Hamilton, NJ 10 am – 4 pm.
 
Oct. 24, 2012 - PRLog -- Trenton, NJ - Committee members alerted the community yesterday that their donation of $1 will allow qualifying food pantries to purchase $8 of food.

This announcement was made in connection with the upcoming Make A Difference Day Feed the Hungry Food Drive taking place this weekend on Saturday, October 27, at Briarwood Plaza, 2450-52 Kuser Road, Hamilton, NJ from 10 am – 4 pm.  The site will be open on Friday from 10 am – 4 pm for anyone who cannot make the Saturday event.  

The event is being held to provide food, toiletries and cleaning supplies to TEAM’s (Trenton Ecumenical Area Ministry’s) network of 14 faith-based food pantries located in the Trenton area.  “We added toiletries and cleaning supplies to the list of donations because of the growing requests for assistance from members of working families who are having trouble making ends meet,” stated Tina Swan, Administrative Assistant from T.E.A.M.  

The faith-based food pantries who will receive the donations include:  Friendship Baptist Church, Grace Community Church, Turning Point United Methodist Church, Samaritan Baptist Church, New Covenant United Methodist Church, Wayne Ave. Baptist Church, Trinity Cathedral, Westminster Presbyterian Church, First Baptist Church of Trenton, Greater Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Redeemer Lutheran Church, St. John’s Baptist Church, Church of the Blessed Sacrament/Our Lady of Divine Shepherd (CBS/OLDS), and Mt. Carmel Guild.  

Committee members include:  Tina Swan, TEAM; Sarah A. Thoma; Marie A. Gladney, Mt. Carmel Guild;  Edith Siplin and Alan Johnson, NJ Youth Corps; Scott Ellis of Center for Independent Living; Denise Daniels; Steven Hercman of Hercman Properties; Bonnie Williams, Turning Point United Methodist Church; and Rev. Dr. Brenda Cusack.
