Bayberry Books is a publishing service run out of Greenpoint, Brooklyn that allows an easy way for authors to reach their audience. They take manuscripts from any stage and help create quality, ready-to-sell books to any market.

Founder Gabe Stuart said, "Authors will often spend years writing a book and then say, 'Now what do I do?' Many choose to do it themselves and to their vision rather than spending more years in a sort of publishing purgatory."

Over the years, the many services offered to authors looking to self-publish have multiplied and changed for the better. But there is a tendency for authors to be overwhelmed by all the options, and Bayberry Books was founded to make the publishing process easier. Publishing with Bayberry Books begins with working in consultation with an agent to identify the scope of the book project. The author avoids the all-online experience of companies like Authorhouse, Lulu, and Lightning Source, and they get answers for all their questions by an actual person.

"It's all worth it for that moment when authors get that finished book in their hands," said Gabe Stuart. "Knowing that we saw it through from its inception is a worthwhile feeling."

Offering services like formatting, graphic design, editing and print management, Bayberry Books is a one-stop publishing solution. The author has all the creative control. And with publishing companies scaling back on advances and promotions, the timing is great for authors to seize opportunities in the print-on-demand market.

Bayberry Books may be an appropriate solution for biographers, artists, those writing their memoirs, poets, family historians and those publishing their first book. A printed copy of a title also can serve as a type of modern book proposal to an agent.

Gabe Stuart started self-publishing in Ditmas Park in 2007 at the Publish Yourself! store and since then has helped many authors complete their book projects. He has worked in traditional publishing, academic publishing, manufacturing and self-publishing for the last 6 years.

Additionally, Gabe Stuart of Bayberry Books will be giving a DIY Self-Publishing and POD Publishing class at the CUNY Graduate Center of Journalism on October 25th, from 6:30-9:30pm (limited to 15 seats). The intent of the class is to provide the type of info authors will need to get their manuscript in shape and turned into a book.
