Oct. 24, 2012 - PRLog -- World Bicycle Relief, the organization that transforms the lives of individuals and communities through The Power of Bicycles®, announced that the SRAM pART PROJECT NYC charity art exhibition and gala will take place on November 29, 2012 at the Cedar Lake Theater in New York City. Ninety-five noted artists have contributed original works created from SRAM bicycle components, which will be exhibited and auctioned at the event. All of the proceeds will support World Bicycle Relief in improving access to education, healthcare and economic opportunity in rural communities through the Power of Bicycles®.

“Innovative artists are using innovative equipment to support an innovative solution for improving people’s mobility in the developing world,” said F.K. Day, President and Founder of World Bicycle Relief and Executive Vice President of the SRAM Corporation.  “We thank the artists for their contributions, and encourage people to visit our website, check out their work and join us in New York at the SRAM pART Project gala.”

A limited amount of tickets are now available. Priced to represent the cost of providing two World Bicycle Relief bicycles, tickets can be purchased online for $268/person through the following link: http://cloud.bidpal.net/Portal/bpe19464/registration/showProfileForm.html

Hosted by leading cycling component manufacturer, the SRAM Corporation’s 2012 NYC event will be the largest pART PROJECT to date, nearly doubling the number of participating artists.  All artwork has been created using SRAM bicycle components, and for the first time, collage pieces will be exhibited as well as sculpture.  Artwork will be featured in a juried gallery exhibition and auctioned live at the gala event, which begins at 6:30 p.m. EST.

“Great art meets a great cause and enhances visibility,” commented David Zimberoff, Global Marketing Director at SRAM. “5 years ago, I contracted an artist in Japan to create a series of robots using bike parts.  The concept has since evolved into the charitable art event SRAM pART PROJECT is today, fostering art to support World Bicycle Relief in improving lives.”

First- and second-place prizes will be awarded in the collage and sculpture categories.  An overall grand-prize winner will also be selected and awarded an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Africa to experience the work of World Bicycle Relief firsthand. Meet the artists at: http://www.sram.com/partproject/new-york/artists.php

Proceeds from the event will be matched by World Bicycle Relief’s board and a small group of donors as a part of World Bicycle Relief’s year-end fundraising campaign.
