Leading Copper Repiper Trounces Industry Accepted Standard for Older California Homes

In a bold statement today, leading repipe company, MasterServ, gave a big “finger” to past commercial and residential plumbing for the once "new" systems which used soft copper and galvanized pipes.

Oct. 23, 2012 - PRLog -- The overwhelming ratio of poor quality, soft copper piping and galvanized pipe systems has raised much concern, even if home-owners are not fully cognizant of it.  “We have been finding this for so long,” stated a company spokesperson, “that it is beyond anything that could be termed ‘conclusive’.  The general standard of pipes in homes built during mid to late last century, were not what they need to be and it has affected people’s lives.”

“It is not just a matter that galvanized pipes being the once-latest technology,” said the source.  “This is a situation where people’s homes have begun to be damaged at a horrific rate with the aging of these plumbing systems.”  Further explanation included a few points which can best be described as “insidious.”  Not the least of these is the fact that where soft copper pipes were used under the foundation of a home, then leaks are virtually inevitable.  This can wreak slow havoc, resulting in thousands of dollars of damage and even dropping the overall value of the home by huge percentages.  Another such example is the pollution that gets into the water right inside the walls and floors of the home or building, making the water unfit for drinking.

Then there are the horror stories of home owners who have wasted thousands of dollars getting plumbers to dig holes in their own floors to patch slab leaks in the foundation, only to have another spot under the floor spring a leak.  According to MasterServ, getting it done right the first time would necessarily include a full repipe of the whole house.  This means routing the new piping system through walls and/or attic depending on feasibility, completely ignoring the old system under the floor.  The importance of this approach is apparently best highlighted by the wastage of money doing patchwork in the floors – which unfortunately all too many home owners have done and even continue to do. MasterServ even cited one home owner who did this seven times before deciding to do it right.

On doing it right, MasterServ is also pretty bold about a guarantee on the new system for the duration of a customer’s life.   “Any plumber or repipe contractor who has the ‘plumbing’ to stand up and give a lifetime guarantee such as ours, is welcome to prove it!” proclaimed MasterServ head, George Anderson.  He bragged about the workmanship of his crews.  He went on to boast every plumber and crew member being an employee, versus a hire-out subcontractor.  “We have no question that our PEX repiping systems or the hard copper repipe we use will last a lifetime.  We are proud to provide the best products and equally proud to stand behind our own work,” he continued.  “And we have the happy clientele and written guarantee to prove it.”
