Follow on Google News | Bridgeport Village Announces 2012 Holiday Events ScheduleBridgeport Village, Portland’s premier shopping and dining destination, has released its 2012 holiday events schedule. The season will kick off on November 12th with the tree illuminated on November 23rd.
By: Bridgeport Village Other highlights include; the return of the popular Ducks vs. Beavers pep rally event on November 21st, a solar-powered train, an impressive array of live trees, garland and holiday décor and of course, Santa, in his house sponsored by the Professional Remodelers Organization. This year will also feature “25 days of Joy” leading up to Christmas with various events and activities each day. One of the 25 days of joy will be a visit from live reindeer on December 22nd. Ducks vs. Beavers Pep Rally Duck and Beaver fans are invited to join cheerleaders and dancers from the University of Oregon and Oregon State University to start cheering for their favorite team in anticipation of the big game. Bridgeport Village will host the ultimate pep rally with activities and contests for the entire family including photo opportunities with Benny the Beaver and Puddles the Duck, live music, face painting and great prizes. Additionally, there will also be a raffle to win tickets to the Civil War game on Saturday. Wednesday, November 21 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. The Beatniks Holiday Concert Bridgeport Village will host local band, The Beatniks, for the annual Light up the Night holiday concert under the gazebo in center court. During intermission at 7pm, Santa will arrive aboard the Bridgeport Express Train to light the live, locally grown 40 foot Holiday Tree and will be available for photos in his new house, built by the Home Builders Association Professional Remodelers Organization. Friday, November 23 6-8 p.m. All aboard the Bridgeport Express Holiday shoppers will be invited to climb aboard the 35-passenger, solar-operated holiday train and ride it to their destinations in Bridgeport Village. The Bridgeport Express is a 40-foot-long trackless passenger train with four-foot wide cars to accommodate children and adults. Rides are free and available for riders of all ages. Daily: Friday, November 23 – Friday December 21 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 3 – 5 p.m. Photos with Santa Children are invited to visit Santa in his home built by the Home Builders Association Professional Remodelers Organization in center court. In addition to posing for holiday photos, Santa will give away candy canes and coloring books. Tickets for Breakfast with Santa will be $10 per person and include delicious food, entertainment with Radio Disney, a visit with Santa and lots of fun. Saturday, December 8 8:30 – 9:45 a.m. Saturday, December 15 8:30 – 9:45 a.m. Festival of Music Bridgeport Village will host local youth choirs and bands throughout the month of December. The performances will take place under the gazebo and feature choirs from surrounding school districts and community groups. Many unique activities are planned, one of the most popular will be a visit by live reindeer on Saturday December 22nd.
