Guard-A-Kid partners with VETFRAN to increase business ownership through the military

Guard-A-Kid believes in the VETFRAN program, and recently supported the organization to provide discounts for vets to help them get started in business ownership.

Oct. 23, 2012 - PRLog -- Tampa, FL (October 23, 2012) Guard-A-Kid has always provided a special incentive for Vets to join their franchise, however, they made it an official partnership to support the VETFRAN organization through the International Franchise Association earlier this week. “We are pleased to support the men and woman who have given so much for our country”, said Bob Curtis of Guard-A-Kid. The Guard-A-Kid franchise is offering a $3,000 discount and additional child ID kits to qualified Vets and hope they can grow their franchise with the military Veterans for years to come.

More than 2,000 veterans have taken a path to business ownership through the International Franchise Association’s Veterans Transition Franchise Initiative, known as Vet Fran. According to IFA’s recently completed Vet Fran survey, 2,089 veterans have become small-business franchisees since 2002 by taking advantage of financial incentives.

Vet Fran was re-established following the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Since then, nearly 400 IFA-member franchise systems have volunteered to offer financial incentives to help honorably-discharged veterans become franchise small-business owners. The participating companies and the discounts they offer can be viewed at www.franchise.org under “Franchises for Veterans.”

Earlier this year, IFA formed a partnership with the U.S. Army Reserve to help broaden employment opportunities for reservists by including franchise ownership as a career option and funneling veteran franchise prospects toward Vet Fran.

Guard-A-Kid provides a total and complete child I.D. kit and child safety product packages to each participating parent. Guard-A-Kid uses a state-of-the-art FBI quality digital fingerprint scanner to capture the child fingerprint images. A single Child I.D. card is not enough in finding a missing child. In many cases, missing children end up in other states. While others offer a single printed child I.D. card, Guard-A-Kid provides the parents with two wallet-size printed child I.D.s, a large file-size child I.D., and most importantly a CDROM that contains all of the child information in a digital format. The CDROM is extremely essential in transmitting the child information to other law enforcement agencies within the same city and also to agencies out of state. In fact, with Guard-A-Kid, the full set of information from a missing child can be emailed to other agencies within seconds. The first hour after the child is reported missing is the most important time in recovering the child. The CDROM includes a file that contains all of the child information in the format that the police and the FBI prefer to see. Once the parent provides the CDROM to law enforcement and the law enforcement inserts it into their computer system, the child information is quickly formatted into their database and ready to be sent to other agencies worldwide.
