Formerly Sylvette David, Corbett changed her name in the 1960s and moved to the UK. Her importance in the art world was not to be limited to her role as Picasso’s muse. As she influenced the great man, he also influenced her. This influence is certainly shown in her work today.
In this exhibition it seems many of Corbett’s pieces revisit her early years. We see that young girl again, wearing her ponytail or with blond hair flowing. Some pieces show her with other figures, including Picasso.
Lydia Corbett remains an icon of wonder and beauty and will be attending the Opening at Fosse Gallery on 4th November.
