Age UK Bucks Volunteers Recognised by Her Majesty The Queen

The Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher, has presented volunteers from Age UK Bucks with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

Oct. 22, 2012 - PRLog -- After the presentation, the Lord Lieutenant took time to speak to the volunteers as well as clients and their carers at the Steeple Claydon Day Centre.

Chief Executive Giulia Johnson said: “We are overjoyed that our dedicated volunteers from Wing and Steeple Claydon Day Centres have received this prestigious award which recognises not only their dedication but also the commitment of our Day Care Manager, Margot Hill.  Special thanks should also go to Lyn Fisk, who nominated Age UK Buckinghamshire to receive this award.”

The event was attended by 60 guests including Mrs Carolyn Cumming High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, Countess Elizabeth Howe, Trevor Boyd, Head of Social Services, Bucks County Council, Mrs Marion Clayton, Chairman of Bucks County Council and Ken Ross, Honorary President of Age UK Bucks.

Age UK Buckinghamshire, formerly Age Concern Buckinghamshire, has been caring for vulnerable older people throughout the county for almost 70 years.   This year, with the support of dedicated volunteers, over 6,000 people will benefit from the range of services offered by the Charity.
