Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center’s
Annual FinFest on the River Fundraiser a Huge Success
Jacksonville, FL –
Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center’s (JSHC) annual FinFest on the River fundraiser was a huge success thanks to the 250 attendees, numerous corporate sponsors and volunteers. Together, we raised the bar and exceeded $110,000 in net overall donations for JSHC – nearly tripling what was raised in previous years.
Mayor Alvin Brown was in attendance, reminding everyone that “education is the great equalizer.” He underscored how support of the Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center creates a long-lasting impact towards academic and lifelong success for underserved pre-Kindergarten children and adults with speech and/or language needs throughout Northeast Florida. During the fun-filled evening, Mayor Brown competed in the hula hoop competition.
The tropical-themed FinFest on the River was held on Saturday, October 13th at the Timuquana Country Club. Heather and Patrick Geraghty, President and CEO of Florida Blue, served as the Honorary Co-Chairs and Florida Blue was the Presenting Sponsor. Gary Roland & The Landsharks Band, a nationally acclaimed Jimmy Buffett cover band, provided entertainment. Guests enjoyed a riveting silent auction. A special live auction feature, a travel package to the Jaguars game in London in 2013, raised $6,000 for the Center.
Communication matters and we value recognition of the critical need for speech and hearing services in our community.
For the past 63 years, the Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center has provided professional compassionate audiology and speech/language services to literally thousands of children and adults in our community. Today, the Center continues to provide these services to approximately 4,000 children, adults and seniors annually.
