Nov. 12, 2012 - PRLog -- WINCHESTER, MASSACHUSETTS -- The New England Club Managers David Meador Foundation awarded its 2012 student scholarships at a dinner and awards ceremony at Winchester Country Club in Winchester, MA hosted by Paul Lazar CCM, Charles Grandon, Jason Silbovitz and Edilson Fiametti. NECMA member managers, parents and fellow students were on-hand to congratulate the 2012 David Meador Fund scholarship recipients.

The David Meador Foundation is proud and honored to award a record dollar amount totaling$15,000. The scholarships awarded were in two categories. Club Management Scholarship going to deserving students seeking Club Management as a career path, and Hospitality Scholarship awarded to deserving student seeking a career path under the hospitality umbrella.

The New England Club Managers David Meador Foundation  2012 student scholarship recipients are:

The New England Club Managers Association believes that the future of our profession is in the hands of motivated and driven individuals such as the award recipients. We hope these scholarships will aid in their endeavors to complete their education, giving them the foundation of successful club management and hospitality careers ahead.

The New England Club Managers Association, The Original Chapter of the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) continues its dedication and support to students of hospitality and culinary studies, and those interested in the club management profession. In addition to granting annual student scholarships, NECMA and its David Meador Foundation provides student chapter members grants for the CMAA Annual World Conference on Club Management registration fee, participation in monthly NECMA educational sessions, and complimentary attendance at networking opportunities at monthly NECMA social receptions and dinners.

NECMA Student Chapters include the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, (Amherst, MA) Professor Rod Warnick, PhD, Faculty Advisor; Johnson & Wales University (Providence, RI), Professor Fred Faria, PhD, Faculty Advisor; Boston University School of Hospitality Administration (Boston, MA), Dr. Michael Oshins, Faculty Advisor; University of New Hampshire, Whittemore School of Business & Economics, Department of Hospitality (Durham, NH), Professor Clayton Barrrows; and Newbury College, Roger A. Saunders School of Hotel & Restaurant Management (Brookline, MA), John Pelleteir, Faculty Advisor. The New England Chapter is the only CMAA Chapter to boast such support of five student chapters and colonies.

In addition to awarding annual student scholarships (http://www.necma.org/Default.aspx?p=DynamicModule&pag...) and offering support to students interested in pursuing club management and hospitality as a career, the David Meador Foundation awards annual Professional Development Scholarships (http://www.necma.org/Default.aspx?p=DynamicModule&pag...) to NECMA members actively pursuing their Certified Club Managers (CCM) designation as well as provides funding to the New England Club Managers Association for their continuing education and professional development programs (http://www.necma.org/Default.aspx?p=DynamicModule&pag...).

The David Meador Fund was created by the New England Club Managers Association with a generous donation from the Members of the Chilton Club (Boston, MA) in memory of their well-respected Club Manager, David Meador, a member of NECMA, who passed away in 1975 while on duty at the Chilton Club. The New England Club Managers David Meador Meador Foundation is a 501(c)3 Corporation of the New England Club Manager Association (NECMA), the general purpose of the Corporation is to foster intellectual excellence in the field of club management by securing funds from contributions to be used for educational purposes and assist students, by way of providing scholarship grants, seeking an education in the hospitality profession. The Corporation's charitable and educational purposes are to provide educational and training opportunities for club managers and students engaged and employed in the private club and hospitality industry in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the states of Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

The New England Club Managers Association (NECMA), the original chapter of the Club Managers Association of America, was established in 1914 and has since been a leader in the advancement of opportunities for private club managers, and foremost, students of the culinary and hospitality industries.
