Any foods that are sticky, chewy, hard or crunchy should be avoided by anyone wearing braces or retainers.
"Eating hard, sticky and chewy foods can contribute to tooth decay and could cause teeth to break or cause damage to braces," says Dr. Yan Kalika, orthodontist. "If orthodontic patients are careful about the Halloween treats they eat, they can keep their braces intact and should be able to finish treatment on time and with good results."
Image Orthodontics is holding its annual Candy Buy Back program so patients don’t have to miss out on the trick-or-treating fun. Patients, as well as non-patients, are encouraged to swap their candy for cash. Image Orthodontics is accepting candy Nov. 1 to 9 and will award $1 per pound of candy. In appreciation for encouraging students to redeem their candy, Image Orthodontics will make a cash donation to the school with largest candy redemption.
