Oct. 19, 2012 - PRLog -- Tate & Tryon’s Doug Boedeker, Maureen Downs, and Deborah Kosnett will be speaking at the 24th Annual Greater Washington Society of CPAs (GWSCPA) Not-for-Profit Organizations Symposium which takes place December 12-13, 2012 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC. Presented by the Greater Washington Society of CPAs (GWSCPA), the Symposium offers two full days of seminars on critical issues and current topics presented by internationally recognized speakers in the nonprofit accounting and financial management field.

Doug Boedeker, CPA and Maureen Downs, CPA will be co-presenting a session on the topic of A-133 compliance. In a program titled, Seeking Perfection in an Imperfect World: A133 Compliance Problems and Solutions (http://www.nfposymposium.org/index.cfm?page=Schedule&Category=detail&id=365&CFID=2300357&CFTOKEN=22513922), Doug and Maureen will provide, from both a client and auditor perspective, an overview of typical compliance problems encountered during the A-133 audit process and ways to avoid them. Doug is a partner in Tate & Tryon’s Audit and Assurance Services practice and Maureen serves as a Chief Financial Officer within the Firm’s Outsource Services department.

Exempt Organization Tax Principal, Deborah Kosnett, CPA, (http://www.tatetryon.com) will present, Is That Really UBIT? (http://www.nfposymposium.org/index.cfm?page=Schedule&...) which will provide an overview of common sources of Unrelated Business Income ("UBI") such as office buildings and parking lots; internet, radio, and TV; “dual-use” and “exploited” activities; certain trade association activities; gift shops and job banks; and fundraising activities.

The 24th Annual GWSCPA Not-for-Profit Organizations Symposium will be held on December 12-13, 2012 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC.
