Oct. 19, 2012 - PRLog -- 9-year-old Chase Anichini knows what it’s like to be bullied. For more than 2 years she dealt with kids who constantly picked on her, called her names and told her that nobody liked her. But did she hide out in her room to protect herself from the verbal abuse? No way! With her parents’ help, Chase developed a strategy for dealing with bullies: she decided to turn her encounters with bullies into a game. What happened next was incredible: the bullies got bored and left her alone! Chase named her game, “Baffle That Bully!” She and her mother co-wrote a book to teach other kids how to play.

“The worst part about having bullies was that I couldn’t figure out why they were picking on me. I didn’t know what I had done to make them be so mean to me,” said Chase.

“I wrote Baffle That Bully! because I wanted to help other kids who were being bullied, before it got so bad that they couldn’t sleep at night,” said the young author. “Maybe by playing my game, other kids could get rid of their bullies just like I got rid of mine.”

Baffle That Bully! was written by a family to help other families – co-written by a mother and daughter; co-illustrated by sisters. The book is available from Amazon.com:

About the Book

Baffle That Bully! is a way of maintaining your cool while distracting bullies, throwing them off their game, and putting them in a game where you make the rules. The result: bullies decide for themselves to leave you alone, because it’s no longer fun to pick on you.

But the book is about more than overcoming bullying. It’s also about being the keeper of your own feelings and believing in yourself. The message is positive and uplifting: don’t let anyone bring you down, no matter how hard they try!

Chase tells her story through the fictional character Scarlett Jones. Scarlett introduces 3 steps to playing Baffle That Bully! for your child to follow every single time someone is “mean” to him/her. Then she walks your child through several situations (“Scarlett Jones’ Encounters With Bullies”) and explains how she applied the 3 steps to remain calm while throwing the bullies off of their well-rehearsed tactics. Scarlett demonstrates how to successfully Baffle YOUR Bully.

At its heart, Baffle That Bully! is about changing the mindset of the child who is being bullied. The goal is to help your child gain confidence. That confidence and sense of self-worth could help your child handle just about any unpleasant situation.
