In this program we aim to accomplish two things: One, to connect US veterans with immigrant and refugee students who are struggling academically to have a positive impact on their education. Two, to allow immigrant and refugee children view US Veterans in a positive light. To get things started, Arab American Family Services is sponsoring a Veterans Day dinner called: “Breaking Bread, Building Bridges”. The dinner will be held on November 11, 2012 at the Bridgeview Park District from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm. The purpose of the dinner is to garner support, partnership and leadership in creating a tutoring program for immigrant and refugee children in our local neighborhoods.
