The Maine Wind Industry Pavilion, organized by the Maine Wind Industry Initiative (MWII), featured nine companies and entities, including University of Maine Advanced Structures & Composites Center (AEWC), Bath Iron Works (BIW), CIANBRO, Maine Port Authority, Maine Composite Alliance, Sewall, Sprague, Maine Wind Industry Initiative and Senergy Alternative Energy.
The Maine Wind Industry Initiative recently received international recognition, for its work providing market and supply chain information and educational outreach, when Director Paul Williamson was awarded the Academic Pioneer Award at the Energy Ocean International 2012 conference in June.
Additionally, AWEA selected Portland, Maine as the host city of their Regional Wind Energy Summit-New England held in September. MWII Director Paul Williamson was asked to be Program Co-Chair. The summit provided a comprehensive view of wind energy specific to the Northeast U.S. and discussed issues facing this region's wind energy development. It also featured a sold-out exhibit with a spectrum of wind energy supply chain products and services.
