The name Pause 456 comes from the need to take a moment to breathe and simply listen to the music, and this is music worth listening to. Together since 2009, they've recently added a new singer and begun to expand their reach. The two original band members, Michael Agostini on electric and Anthony Broderick on bass and vocals, have played together for over 25 years. Their longstanding duo is evident in the tightness of their riffs along with the playfulness they show on stage.
“After playing together for so long, we can jam cohesively and get to the same place,” said Agostini. “It's really fun to play on stage when you can anticipate the other's move so well.”
The other two members of the band are also the newest two. Rhonda Rutledge, a longtime local drummer, joined the original duo after they parted ways with their previous percussionist. A little over nine months of playing as a trio, Chad Nodine was asked to join the band on lead vocals and acoustic guitar. Nodine has been playing for over sixteen years after being handed a guitar and a book of chords. Together with Broderick and Agostini, these musicians really know how to rock.
“It's really awesome to be playing with such talented musicians,” said Nodine. “Being on stage with Mike and Anthony, you can really feel their energy and how they think as one. Then Rhonda comes into the mix and everything just seems to flow.”
Pause 456 is based just west of Portland and plays shows all around the westside. Their next gig is focused on giving back to the community with a toy drive supporting Toys for Tots. The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that every child has a toy on Christmas. The show will be played on November 3rd at Ballad Town Billiards in Forest Grove. The band hopes to see a full house with overflowing toy bins.
“This is our way of giving back to the community that always supports our music,” said Nodine, the coordinator of this event. “We would love to help brighten the holidays for as many children as possible.”
