Oct. 18, 2012 - PRLog -- On Tuesday, October 23, Sen. Lizbeth Benacquisto (R-27) will visit Trailways Camp. The camp, which is for adults with disabilities, is a partnership between Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida and The Robert V. and Benjamin G. Miller Fund.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for Sen. Benacquisto and her staff to learn more about what we do at Goodwill,” says Madison Mitchell, a spokesperson for Goodwill. “This camp truly shows the diversity of both the people we serve and the mission services we offer.”  In 2011, Goodwill assisted 23,000 individuals throughout Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry, and Glades County.

The Trailways Camp mission is to remove the social isolation often felt by people with disabilities by providing opportunities for fun, friends and support. Through outdoor activities, group exercises, crafts, and more, campers develop recreational skills and build relationships.

“Sen. Benacquisto and her staff are coming out to volunteer,” continues Mitchell. “They’ll be helping with hay rides, arts and crafts, fishing, sports, serving lunch, and lots of other activities. It’s going to be fun!”

This will be Sen. Benacquisto’s second visit to a Goodwill service location. She and her staff previously toured the administrative headquarters, Palm Beach Job-Link and Retail & Donation Center, The Goodwill L.I.F.E. Academy, and the Hatton B. Rogers retirement community in August, 2012.
