for Annual Production of “The Nutcracker”


The Woodlands, TX – Woodlands Ballet Ensemble (WBE) has signed Domenico Luciano, principal dancer with Dominic Walsh Dance Theater (www.dwdt.org), to perform as the Sugar Plum Cavalier in its production of “The Nutcracker” November 23 – 25, at the College Park High School Theater. Tickets sales begin Oct. 28 online through www.Showtix4U.com or by calling 281-367-7185.

Hailed by Pointe Magazine (www.pointemagazine.com) as one of 12 outstanding performers of 2009 and voted “Best Dancer” in 2008 by the Houston Press (www.HoustonPress.com), Luciano made his U.S. debut with the Tulsa Ballet in 2004. A member of the Dominic Walsh Dance Theater since 2005, he has performed ballet as well as contemporary dance with companies across the globe in China, France, Germany, Italy and beyond. Luciano is well known for his lead performances in “Romeo & Juliet,” “La Bayadere,” and “Carmen.”

“Each year, we strive to produce a show that will develop our young artists and excite our audience,” said Jim Payne, WBE artistic director and co-director of Payne Academy of Performing Arts (www.payneacademy.com). “Each year, we update the choreography so we offer the cast room to grow and develop their skills. We also have seen when they have the opportunity to work with a guest artist like Domenico, the learning experience is enhanced even more.”

This year’s cast also includes more than 60 young artists, ranging in age from 8 to 18 years old.
