The IUCN was the world’s first global environmental organisation when it was established back in 1948. Since then it has gone from strength to strength and now has more than 1200 member organisations in 160 different countries.
As part of the IUCN, Biosphere Expeditions will become part of an ever-strengthening network of scientists, conservationists and activists working towards a sustainable future.

Biosphere Expeditions was founded in 1999 and is an international not-for-profit organisation that co-ordinates regular wildlife conservation projects where volunteers from around the globe can take part – enabling them to see parts of the world they might not otherwise be able to while giving something back.
As well as a new member of the IUCN, Biosphere Expeditions is a member of the United Nations Environment Programme's Governing Council & Global Ministerial Environment Forum.
