Libertarian Party Of Pasco County Urge County Commissioners To Vote Yes On Liberty Preservation Act

Libertarian Party of Pasco County is urging the Board of County Commissioners to vote yes on Liberty Preservation Act and protect the citizens against sections 1021 and 1022 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)

Oct. 17, 2012 - PRLog -- The Libertarian Party of Pasco County is urging the Board of County Commissioners to vote yes on legislation that would protect the citizens of Pasco County against sections 1021 and 1022 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). These sections allow the President of the United States or the Justice Department to determine, based on very broad language, who is a terrorist or terrorist supporter. The provision also allows for US citizens accused of being terrorists to be arrested by the Rights.

The Libertarian Party of Pasco feels it is the duty of every elected official to protect their constituent’s constitutional rights at every level of government. We commend Jack Mariano for bringing this to the other members of the board in a committee meeting today, but we are anxious to see the Commissioners of Pasco County do the right thing and stand up for the rights of the people of our county from the overreaching federal government. The time is now to defend the constitution and the people whom they serve.

“The Pasco County Commission should accept their Constitutional responsibility and inform the federal government that detaining American citizens without due process is not in line with constitutional principles and a direct violation of the bill of rights,” Alexander Snitker, Vice Chairman, Libertarian Party of Pasco County.
