Oct. 17, 2012 - PRLog -- Former X Factor winner Joe McElderry will light up Swansea on Monday 5 November.

Swansea Council has confirmed the 21-year-old will perform at the annual fireworks night at St Helen's Rugby Ground on Monday 5 November.

Geordie Joe rose to fame in 2009 by winning smash hit TV programme The X Factor, beating the likes of Ollie Murs and Stacey Solomon in the process.

He also won another TV singing competition, Popstar to Opera Star, last year.

Cllr Nick Bradley, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: "We've got a proud tradition in Swansea of attracting some of the best musical talent in the country.

"It was only a few months ago that Status Quo performed in Singleton Park and the likes of Elton John and The Who have played at the Liberty Stadium.

"It's great news that we've been able to secure Joe McElderry for Swansea's annual fireworks display. He's an artist that will appeal to people of all ages and the many thousands of local people who tune into The X Factor every Saturday.

"His performance will add to what's an annual feast of fireworks at St Helen's."

The fireworks display is sponsored by Admiral and supported by Nation 80s.

Gates open at 5.30pm, entertainment takes place from 6pm and fireworks start at 7.30pm.

Ring 01792 637300, visit http://www.ticketsource.co.uk/fireworks or call into Active Swansea leisure centres or the Tourist Information Office on Plymouth Street to get hold of tickets.
