Anand informed that as per the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) statistics for the year 2011, the number of visas issued and status changes for China was the highest at 2,408 whereas that for India was only 37 and this is mainly because of the lack of awareness about this program.
As per the new statistics from USCIS the total Visas issued under this program were 3706 in the Fiscal Year 2011 as against 1,885 in the fiscal year 2010, with the number already touching 2,364 till January 2012.
Mr. Anand said that the US government is looking for 10,000 immigrants per year under EB5 visa programme to generate approximately US$ 5 billion in investments for development in rural areas of the country which would also help generate more employment opportunities for the US citizens.
