Initially, the ballet was comprised of three people. After six-months of hard work, he managed to debut at the Colombian Independence Festival in the Park in Flushing Queens.
Currently,there are 100 ballet choreographies of Colombian folklore.
The ballet has had the opportunity to perform at major events,such as the Hispanic Day Parade in Queens,also on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.The NewYork bash, LaGuardia Theater, Hunter College, The Madison Square Garden, Colombian Independence festival in NewYork,NewJersey and Connecticut,and in countless folk festivals in parks,schools,parish halls in the tri-state area, as well as guests from different television channels like channel 47 Telemundo,Univision channel 41and Channel 66.
EnriqueAlvarado studied at the Instituto Popular de Cultura in Cali Colombia, Estampas Negras. Also toured throughout 76 cities in the US. Performed at the most important theaters in Colombia, Venezuela,USA,in Spain,France,Switzerland,Canary Islands,Palma deMajorca. His teachers have included YolanadaAzuero,LuisNunez,SantiagoCaicedo in Cali, Col.; HernandoMonroy,Sonia Osorio,AnaConsueloGomez, Zulamit Mezerer, Bogota, Col.; RobertoSevilla,YolandaMoreno,GeorgioAreuzo,RicardoFerranti in Spain among others.
The objective of the group is not only to teach folkloric dances but also spread it among the American community as part of the vast cultural wealth of Colombia.At the same time follow the lead as the number one promoter of different foklóric schools of the city and enjoy their heritage in other ballets initiated by their students.
