“Septic Tanks A-Z” - Free Booklet

Oct. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- Septic systems can be very costly if not maintained properly. Replacing a septic system can cost ten thousand dollars. Replacing a drainfield can cost five thousand dollars. Pumping can cost three hundred dollars, not to mention the pumping truck backing onto your lawn or yard.

Periodic pumping is required to keep the solids and the liquids in the septic tank at appropriate levels. If the levels become too high, the system can back up into the house which of course will be very messy (and stinky.)

These high liquid and solid levels may also reach into the drainfield piping system, causing clogged pipes and making the drainfield ineffective. The drain field itself can become clogged over time, the soil can lose its capacity to percolate (absorb,) so you will notice wet spots on the lawn.

Topics include:
Typical Septic Systems
Decomposition of Flushed Materials
Construction of the Septic Tank
Size of the Septic Tank
Location of the Septic Tank
Distribution Boxes
Drainage Piping
Care of Septic Systems
