Oct. 17, 2012 - PRLog -- The concept of exploring the future has presented grand notions of space exploration to far flung galaxies, and a hot beverage materializing at the mere thought of a coffee. But in reality this practice is far removed from the image of “novelty” research. In this October 25 presentation at the Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP) Austin Texas Chapter, Richard Sears will show how the application of mega-trend research has real “outcome based” impact on organizations.

Mega-trends can be defined as “global, sustained forces of development that are transformational to business, economy, society, cultures and personal lives.” Richard will provide some thought- provoking content to illustrate how technology developments will change lives through the impact of urbanization, e-mobility, healthcare, global economies and many more current trends. Key takeaways include:

•   Identification of future disruptive technologies.
•   An understanding of convergence and how we will need to use trends to evolve.
•   How your competition is evolving and why.
•   Why unlikely marriages between industries are leading to disproportionate growth.
•   Understanding the Macro to Micro process in order to create actionable strategies

The SCIP Austin Chapter meeting will take place at the Radisson Austin Downtown from  5:45 pm until 8:30 pm on Thursday, October 25. Registration of $20 includes presentation, hors d’oeuvres and drink ticket.  For further information please see the scip.org web site or contact Robyn Reals at 703-739-0696 x107.

His primary function is leading Frost & Sullivan’s Visionary Innovative Research Group, a team of global consultants focused on understanding how future transformative developments will impact the various industries they monitor and clients they serve, as well as tomorrow’s consumers. Richard believes that we can shape the future by taking practical, data driven steps keeping decision making firmly grounded in future certainties. Richard has worked with virtually every industry, from energy to health care to IT, giving him a truly rounded perspective of the global business environment.
