PRLog (Press Release) - Oct. 16, 2012 - Pop star and former X Factor finalist Amelia Lily has been given her dream car for her 18th birthday – now for the small matter of passing her driving test.
The Teesside-born star, whose debut single You Bring me Joy hit number two in the charts last month, was bowled over in London yesterday as her family unveiled a Ministry of Sound edition Nissan Juke.
The car was a gift from Winn Solicitors – a national claims and compensation firm headquartered in her native North East of England. The firm had previously received a tip off from Amelia’s dad Barry that the Juke was her dream motor.
While she was clearly delighted with the present as it was revealed at the swanky London Radisson Blu Edwardian New Providence Wharf Hotel, posing for cameras behind the wheel was as close as she got to driving it.
She said: “I couldn’t believe it when I saw the car,” she said. “It took me a moment to realise that it was actually for me. I just need to pass my test now."
“I haven’t had much time to spend with my family and friends recently so this has been really special. Winn Solicitors has been extremely kind organising the brunch party and of course giving me the car. I can’t wait to be able to drive it.” See the full interview here.
Amelia shot to fame when she first appeared on The X Factor last year in front of judges in Liverpool, instantly wowing crowds with her rendition of Piece of my Heart by Erma Franklin.
She was surprisingly eliminated in the early stages but was later voted back into the show following Frankie Cocozza’s disqualification.
She won 48% of the public vote to rejoin the show ahead of three other acts and went on to stun the X Factor’s four judges with her performances which were made all the more impressive by the fact that she was aged just 16 at the time. She ultimately reached the final of the competition and finished third behind girl band Little Mix and singer Marcus Collins.
But despite missing out on first place, the young artist has not looked back since, with her debut single You Bring me Joy debuting at number two in the official UK singles chart when it was released last month as well as reaching top spot in the iTunes singles chart.
