“I believe that poetry’s two most trusted muses are pain and love,” she says. The author now looks back on the poetry that she wrote over 10 years ago in which we see symbolic work that touches on love, pain, family, divorce, a young women striving for perfection, and self-awareness.
“When I wrote my first poem at the age of 14 (Down here in heaven), it was the first time I heard of a woman taking her own life because of loving a man so passionately and becoming so tormented by love. When I wrote about it, I felt a sense of relief that I could express the emotions of someone I never met nor did I know, but somehow I needed to understand.”
