Oct. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- If you are stuck in a never ending cycle of gaining then losing weight, you may have a bit of frustration creeping in. You might even have asked yourself "Why can't I lose weight?", or at least lose weight that permanently stays off. Here's a possible solution to your weight loss woes and a way for you to take control of your health at the same time.

Everyone has a different story or reason why they have gained weight, so for the moment let's not consider the reason why things are the way they are. Priority number one is to shed those extra pounds for good, therefore let's look forward and not be concerned with the reason why we are in this situation. Since our focus question is "Why can't I lose weight", let's first look at what to eat to lose weight.

We want food to be our friend, but unless we focus on healthy choices, then very little in our weight will ever change. Think of it this way, sure most people who attend a birthday party enjoy having a slice of birthday cake, but do you think it's appropriate to eat birthday cake everyday, or even 3-4 times a week? I imagine most would agree that no, birthday cake should be saved for special occasions.

Same situation with our food. Those who enjoy food that is considered fattening or unhealthy such as pizza, french fries, fried chicken, and double bacon cheeseburgers, should treat these choices just like birthday cake. Sure once in a while these choices may be enjoyed, but when they are being included every day or many times a week, that's most likely the number one reason why it's difficult to answer the question "Why can't I lose weight?".

Instead, focus on food and meals that are beneficial to your body such as fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and lots of drinking water. Get into the habit of cooking and preparing meals that will be healthy and appropriately portion sized. On the days when you just do not feel like cooking anything, having frozen selections such as Lean Cuisines, or Weight watchers meals can be great alternatives, or even prepackaged salads with grilled chicken from supermarkets are always a possible option.

Last resort should be to go to a restaurant/fast food spot since the temptations of unhealthy options may be too grand for you to ignore. There are healthy options that can be found but you do have to select carefully and avoid the bacon cheeseburgers and fries that may be calling out your name.

Just to name a couple possibilities, from Subway you can get a 6" Ham sandwich with vegetables and a bowl of vegetable soup, or from Jack in the Box the chicken salad with light ranch dressing or the Chicken Pita (no cheese) with a fruit cup instead of french fires. Try to stay away from soda because not only is it calorie and sugar loaded, it does not do a body good like water or natural juice does.

Keeping these choices in mind especially when you plan to eat out will help you answer the question why can't I lose weight, and when you are wondering what to eat to lose weight, hopefully you remember these tips. By just changing a couple bad habits maybe that's all it will take to get you losing weight and into the shape you want
