PRLog - Oct. 18, 2012 - BERKELEY, Calif. -- The program is specifically designed to meet the needs of Non-profits working to bring light and good health to the 1.5 billion people living off the grid.

Off Grid Solutions Opens Door to Unique Non-Profit Partnerships for Powerful Distribution Solutions

“Successfully meeting our goal of bringing safe, bright cost effective light to the 1.5 billion people around the world living off the grid  will require close collaboration with non-profits in the U.S. and around the world,” explained Eric Clare, GM, Off Grid Solutions, U.S..

With the support and input from many non-profits, OGS U.S. has created a  Non-Profit program to support unique partnerships that make the distribution of the WakaWaka solar lamp more effective than ever before. Non-profits need only contact OGS or register on their non-profit page to get detailed information.

The first part of the program provides direct-to-non-profit pricing with low minimum purchases for registered 501 C3 organizations. The per-unit costs of this program make WakaWaka Solar Lamps extremely affordable, whether a non-profit is funding the program entirely or offering solar lighting at a subsidized rate.

The second component of the program allows non-profits to fundraise by retailing the WakaWaka Solar Lamps  in the U.S. using a host of provided tools – landing pages, email templates, and web-based marketing solutions. Doing so earns non-profits credit applicable to future WakaWaka purchases at non-profit pricing.

To further boost non-profit collaboration, WakaWaka’s sustainable business model encourages two or more non-profits to work together.  Any non-profit that shows they are working with others to bring cost effective light to those in need have access to even lower per-unit pricing.  A non-profit that takes advantage of both programs plus the collaboration incentive can easily finance the purchase of thousands or millions of lamps for nearly nothing.

An excellent example of how these programs are bringing corporate and non-profit partners together to help create substantially more effective distribution of WakaWaka Solar Lamps can be seen in Off Grid Solutions’ recent agreement with Uganda Batteries Ltd., the country’s foremost battery company.

Owned by a well-known Ugandan entrepreneur, James Mulwana, who also owns one of the largest dairy farms in Uganda as well as Nice House of Plastics Ltd., Uganda Batteries is well-positioned to use its expertise in country to distribute WakaWaka Solar Lamps.

“Practically every household in Uganda has one of our products in their home.” says Mulwana. “We hope to accomplish the same with WakaWaka in Uganda.”

“Such a commitment [from Uganda Batteries] could enable non-profits currently working in Uganda to have a consistent, stable and cost effective resource for the WakaWaka Solar Lamp,” stated Mr. Clare. “Non-profits like Solar Sisters for example, provide a very valuable service bringing education, distribution and economic development services to remote villages throughout Uganda creating the foundation of a powerful long term relationship between the two entities.”

But the vision goes much farther afield than Uganda. WakaWaka has received inquireies from over 80 countries around the world. “We are working hard to create and support these types of relationships where multiple entities can work together to meet the common objective.”

Not Just Another Solar Lamp:  How The WakaWaka Solar Lamp is the Most Efficient on the Planet

Not only is Off Grid Solutions committed to sustainable business models that make the distribution of renewable energy-based lighting easy and cost-effective, they’ve applied their talents to develop a solar lamp that’s second to none. Many challenges have stunted the growth of solar lighting in countries living with extreme poverty, including steep retail prices, inefficient solar charging results, and low battery performance, leaving the non-profit communities and those they work with cautious about the idea of solar lighting. For non-profits that work hard to establish relationships based on trust, poor quality product can be extremely damaging when promoting sustainable energy solutions.

The WakaWaka Solar Lamp has sidestepped these challenges by offering a lamp with exceptional performance in even the most demanding conditions. Not only has it been verified to be the most efficient solar light on the planet, industry and consumer reviews (such as those on Amazon) confirm that the WakaWaka Solar Lamp is durable, extremely powerful, and outstandingly practical. This list of amazing features tells it all:

16 hours of bright reading light from an 8 hour charge;  a 2:1 use time to charge ratio.
Water-resistant.
Uses three rechargeable AA batteries (included).
Five different light modes, including an SOS beacon.
