Do You Have a Case of the Monday Workout Blues

Feeling tired? Looking for excuses to skip the workout? Low on energy? Don't worry it happens to everyone whether you are just starting a workout program or you've been at it for years. Its called a case of the Monday Workout Blues.

Oct. 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Today was just one of those days. For those with kids, it reminded me of the movie Hotel Transylvania when the fake Count Dracula’s would say “blah blah blah blah blah”. That’s exactly how I felt when it came to my swim workout for the day – blah blah blah blah blah… I just couldn’t get excited or motivated and used every excuse to bail out on the workout plan.

Originally I was supposed to do:

Warm Up:
8X75 50 swim / 25 drill (mix fingertip, head out of water, fist)

Main Set:
6X100 odds drill as 25 of each (kick on side, double pump, one arm only, fingertip) evens swim build with in each 100 RI 15″
4X50 kick with board 1:15
4X25 sprint :30

Cool Down:
3X100 kick/drill/choice

Instead it ended up looking like a 50 yard warm-up swim, a 1000 yard slow main set, and a 100 yard cool down with 50 fist drill. Not bad I guess, but not part of the plan.

Feeling a little guilty I decided to add a run after work today. I figure there are only a few good days in Iowa left for the year and today was one of them. It was low 60′s and the sun was shining bright. Still not having a great deal of mojo I chose an easy 5 mile heart rate (zone 2) run and it was simply wonderful.
