The Santa Fe is the seventh Hyundai vehicle to be win the honor of the 2012 Top Safety Pick designation, joining the Azera, Equus, Sonata, Genesis, Elantra, and Tucson. As the number of vehicles with safety accolades from Hyundai continues to climb, it adds to what dealerships like Family Hyundai have been asserting all along: that Hyundai is one of the best brands in the industry today.

The IIHS is an independent, scientific not-for-profit organization that’s dedicated to helping consumers make the best choice with their next vehicle, and their safety tests are among the most comprehensive in the industry. The IIHS administers four main crash tests: moderate overlap frontal, side, and rear-impact collisions, as well as rollover impacts. In receiving the Top Safety Pick honor, the 2013 Santa Fe received the institute’s highest rating of “Good” in all four tests.

This official assurance that the Santa Fe is safe is just one more reason that Chicagoland drivers are sure to love owning what is a remarkable crossover SUV. Sporting an array of powerful and efficient powertrains, the Santa Fe offers drivers a choice between a 2.4L 4-cylinder, a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine, and a 3.3L V6; these options provide a range of power, spanning from 190 hp (2.4L) to 290 hp (3.3L). All engine models will save drivers money at the gas pump, as Hyundai estimates that the base model of the Santa Fe can achieve 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway — truly excellent numbers for a crossover vehicle.

Drivers in the Chicagoland area who looking to learn more about the 2013 Santa Fe can check one out at Family Hyundai’s Tinley Park dealership. Their Sales department is open six days a week, and features a tremendous selection of new and pre-owned vehicles.
