The charity serves areas in Dallas’ poorest sectors where one out of every three families live below the poverty line and carry an infant mortality rate of 23%. Debra began ten years ago volunteering twice a year in the charity’s Pathways program, which teaches young women life and job skills in a sixteen-week format.
Brother Bill’s Helping Hand has been fortunate enough to exceed its normal role meeting physical needs like food and clothing as well as spiritual support to now offer English classes, after school tutoring, and medical care, in addition to improving elderly homes and providing toys to children for the holidays. The 70-year-old faith based mission operates from funds by individual donors and staffs a total of seven employees, encouraging people to get involved in local charities to provide real assistance to men and women in need.
“Brother Bill’s Helping Hand is one of the many charities that Vertex helps to support. We serve in order to enrich, empower and encourage others that are less fortunate.” stated Ms. Wilson.
