To protect against these potential hazards, on April 22, 2008, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued the Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule. It requires that firms performing renovation, repair, and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in pre-1978 homes, child care facilities and schools be certified by the EPA and that they use certified renovators who are trained by EPA-approved training providers to follow lead-safe work practices.
Since the RRP Rule was announced, Legends Environmental Insurance Services has worked to provide companies impacted by the regulations with pollution liability policies. Legends has specialized in providing environmental insurance programs since 1986 and they are one of the largest specialty insurance providers offering these types of packages in the United States and Canada.
“The RRP Rule requires professionals included in the regulations to become certified,” reported Brian Mcfarland, Vice President of Legends. “Once you are certified, contact Legends for a quote on a Pollution Liability policy from an AM Best A rated carrier. Legends can write the pollution on a monoline basis or include your General Liability and even Professional Liability at a competitive price. This program can not only save a considerable amount of money and paperwork, but it also gives the ability for our customers to bid on jobs with the level of coverage needed to win the job and get it done.”
Legends has created an online video about the RRP Rule that can be seen at:
