Cromadex, the company that supplied the gold paint for the London 2012 commemorative paint boxes, called in DPR to investigate and repair a leak that was starting to disrupt day-to-day business at its Leeds office, in particular in the primer room of its in-house paint shop.
Although the leak repair was fairly straightforward further damage had been done to the internal structure of the roof where the under board had come loose and fallen, causing additional work to be carried out.
“Due to the height of the roof the team had to erect the access equipment and safety crawling boards,” explained Darren Rickett, the managing director of the roofers in Leeds http://www.leedsroofs.com.
“We then began cleaning out the roof sheets and then sealed them to stop the leak to the primer room area. Once the leak had been stopped the team then set about preventing any more leaks from appearing by applying polyester membrane sections to all joints before applying a final coating of their own fibre glass resin compound.”
Before completing the job DPR’s team removed the fallen and damaged under board and installed brand new replacements to leave the painting business’s primer room free from un-welcome rainwater.
“At the time that we repaired the roof we didn’t realise it was Cromadex who supplied the paint to Royal Mail for the gold post boxes,” added Rickett. “You generally don’t think about these things but it’s good to know that business from around the country benefited from the Olympics.”
The Cromadex General Industrial liquid coatings range includes primers, primer finishes, topcoats and factory maintenance products. Its liquid anti-corrosive primer and liquid gold topcoat was used to paint Royal Mail post boxes in the hometowns of gold medal winning Team GB members at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
