Fast-paced, Fun, Thought-provoking, social, local, global—Ignite is all of this and more. Ignite is a high-energy evening spiked by 5-minute talks from people who have an idea—the guts to get onstage and the passion to share it with their hometown crowd. Organized and staged by local volunteers connected through the global Ignite network, Ignite is a seminal force for raising the collective IQ and building connections within each city. Ignite events share all this knowledge and passion with the world using live video streaming plus archived videos of our local presentations.

Each presentation is 5 minutes in length with 20 slides of visual images that automatically advance every 15 seconds! Once started, Ignite presentations do not stop for 300 seconds!  Often presenters will be speaking in public for the first time which adds to the audience experience.

Ignite is a worldwide movement originally conceived as technology variety shows, but has grown into much more. Ignite is about ideas. Ideas can change the world. And, it only takes less than five minutes to spread! Anyone familiar with SXSW www.sxsw.org or TED http://www.ted.com will immediately appreciate the Ignite concept. In fact, Ignite events are frequently becoming part of larger technology conferences around the world.

Tickets on sale now http://www.ignite-hr.org/ or at the door for $5.

Ignite Hampton Roads #3 has been dubbed “The Maker Faire Edition” as it coincides with the first Norfolk Mini Maker Faire which will be held October 20th at Norfolk Scope. This FREE family friendly “technology meets art show festival” will showcase the DIY spirit with hands-on demonstrations and exhibits of arts, technology and creativity.

HR Ignite #3 is also proud to partner with another local organization, The Geekettes Club, which promotes women in technology through education and training support. ALL cash proceeds from Ignite Hampton Roads will be applied to the scholarship fund. The Geekettes Club, in its 3rd year, plans to award $7,000 in scholarships for 2013.
