The 2nd Annual 805’s Got Talent Showcase Receives Overwhelming Support from Ventura Community

The Entertainment Organization Sees Large Turnout with Substantial Support from Corporate Sponsors and Community Organizations. Planning Committee Looks Ahead to 2013.

(VENTURA, CA--Saturday, October 13, 2012) On Sunday, October 7, 2012, the “805’s Got Talent” industry showcase welcomed over 500 guests to the Oxnard Performing Arts Center (OPAC/PACC) for a day of family, fun and entertainment in support of performing arts education.

The red carpet event, co-sponsored by Multi-Cultural Ventures Initiative, set the stage for 26 talented youth to show off their singing, dancing and acting skills in hopes of impressing the influential panel of judges.  

This year Erica Duff (Dancer and Creator of Generic Clothing), Maripat Davis (Actress and Singer), Miss Alynette (Personality Q104-7 Radio), Evan Sula-Goff (Vocalist, 8STOPS7) and COSO (Professional Bass Player) rounded out the group tasked to choose the top 3 acts. Cash awards of $75, $150 and $300 were given to the following contestants: Third place, Talia Aharon-Ezer (Vocalist), second place, Lex Rule (Vocalist/Guitar Player), and the Grand Prize winners Viscaria Belly Trance.

Santiago Romero former radio personality and community activist served as host for the evening. He kicked off the show by introducing last year's third place winner, Brittney Morgan who sang a special rendition of “Set Fire to the Rain” by Adele. The audience was also treated to a live performance from hip-hop duo ATM and IMD who stopped by to rock the crowd with their latest single “Bernie Lean.”

A number of raffle prizes were given away from some of the event sponsors. "Satellite Studios" and "Studio 201" donated studio time to two lucky winners. Vocal lessons were donated from singer and vocal coach Melissa James. One lucky audience member took home a Blue Ray disk player courtesy of "Aaron's Furniture"and "A Better Photo" provided a signature photo package.

"Charter College", "Filipino American Center", "Nerium" and "Making You Cosmetics" were some of the local businesses and agencies on hand to provide information on community resources and services. Non-profit organization "CAUSE (Central Coat Alliance United for A Sustainable Economy)" helped locals get ready for the upcoming elections by registering them to vote.
