The Miss Black Collegiate USA Scholarship Pageant ™ was founded by Ms. Darlene Aiken who also serves as its Director. The slogan, “Exposing Minds, Not Bodies!” ™ goes in line with the pageant founder/director’
This inaugural event boasts of world renowned sponsors such as Iman Cosmetics, Macys Bridal Salon for Demetrios, R. J. Graziano Jewelers, African American Artist, Curtis James, and others. The Contestants hail from as far as California, Michigan, Texas, and other parts of the country. They are pursuing career goals such as lawyer, engineers and a wealth of professions.
Ms. Aiken is not new to the world of pageantry. She is not only a former pageant girl, but is an adjunct college lecturer, author, self-esteem expert, professional speaker, and pageant coach. She holds and has held key positions in various community and faith-based organizations as well as have worked with a wealth of civil rights organizations. She is also the president/CEO of a company that she founded over a decade ago, Inner Beauty Solutions, Inc. which she has successfully empowered girls in low-income areas who educators and others had given up on. Those young ladies have now graduated and /or are attending institutions such as Morgan State University, John Jay University, and Northeastern University, to name a few. These same young ladies also have GPA of 3.0 or higher.
