Oct. 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Guard-A-Kid, the nation's most recognized provider of child safety education, Child ID Kits, and safety products, is pleased to announce the opening of a Guard-A-Kid Franchise in Palm Beach County, Florida. Guard-A-Kid of the Palm Beaches will operate out of an office located in Lake Worth, Florida and will market to parents at public and private schools, special events, and organizations

When Chris had the opportunity to retire early from his very successful, demanding career as a law enforcement officer - he gladly took it!  Along with his wife Gina, they had a desire to do more – start a business while staying devoted to their young family. Gina enjoys coaching youth soccer and teaching Sunday school. Balancing family life with this business will give them more quality time and utilize Chris and Gina’s experience, training and outreach desires to grow their business.

Chris had been a Law Enforcement Officer for over 15 years, starting his career as a police officer with the New York City Police Department. His last assignment was as a Gang Specialist in the Transit Bureau Citywide Anti-Gang Enforcement Unit. After relocating to Florida, he became a Police Officer with the Palm Beach Police Department. During his time with PBPD, Chris held several different positions: Patrol Supervisor, Patrol Officer, Motorcycle Patrol Officer, a member of the Special Operations Unit and a Hazardous Devices Technician, certified by the FBI and US Army - eventually becoming the Bomb Squad Commander. With this position, he became the lead instructor for terrorism issues as well as HAZMAT and WMD training within his agency. Chris is certified as an FDLE Instructor, an FDLE Defensive Tactics Instructor, and an FDLE Firearms Instructor.

Gina has always had a passion for working with children. Her background is helping children with disabilities. Gina is a certified Behavior Analyst Assistant and holds a degree in Sign Language Interpreting for the Deaf. Gina is employed as a member of the Business and Finance Office at her children's school. Prior to this, Gina spent several years in the financial services industry as a nationally licensed Commodities Broker.

Guard-A-Kid of the Palm Beaches will develop relationships with retailers, corporate accounts, and organizations that cater to children and are seeking fund raising and/or sponsorship opportunities. Guard-A-Kid of the Palm Beaches core mission is to provide safety to children and to give parents comfort, security, and an effective plan of action if their child or children go missing. Guard-A-Kid's flagship product, the Guard-A-Kid Child Safety Identification Kit along with Smart ID stick, is an award winning, best in class identification product that securely organizes and stores a child’s photograph, fingerprints and critical data that is compatible with law enforcement systems. In addition, Guard-A-Kid and its franchise owners do not store any of the children’s information; it is all given back to the parent.
Law enforcement officials urge parents everywhere to keep an updated picture, all 10-fingerprints and critical information about their child at their fingertips. The first 24 hours following a child’s disappearance are the most critical, and the sooner that police can have access to photos, fingerprints and other critical information about the child, the greater the chances of a safe recovery.
Guard-A-Kid of the Palm Beaches will be officially opening its office on October 10, 2012 and will be ready to serve the community on Monday, October 22, 2012 at 8:00 a.m.
“Now that I’ve made this decision, I can’t stop thinking of all of the places where they don’t have access to this! I cannot wait to get back from my training and get started” said Chris Proscia, owner and operator of Guard-A-Kid of the Palm Beaches.
