While many have cause to bemoan this state of affairs, for recruiters there is a bright spot on the horizon. Today brought the positive news that temporary job placements have gathered pace, rising in September at their fastest rate in over a year. The labour market in Britain is fighting its way back to recovery and this can only be positive for those considering starting up a recruitment company.
Breaking this news down to its basic facts and figures, the index for temporary and contract staff billings rose to 52.6 in September. The last time the figures peaked at this height was July 2011.
The figures were uncovered in a survey undertaken by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG. The report also uncovered another key point that the rate of decline in permanent job placements has moderated to near stagnation last month with only a fractional fall recorded.
