Making Christmas Truly Special This Year

Oct. 12, 2012 - PRLog -- Christmas is here! Well it’s not, but its close enough.  Simply, the summer has gone, and now we all need something else to look forward to.  

Believe it or not, there are only 73 days left until the big day, and although that may seem like a lot, once you take away Sundays and Bank Holidays, time is ticking by.  With most of us working at least five days a week, it is a scary thought to hear that there are only 11 Saturdays remaining!

The summer felt like a deep cleanse for most of the UK.  Despite the continuing economic crisis, we all celebrated in style as sporting hero after sporting hero made us proud once more to be Great British.  The Jubilee celebrations brought us all together, and the exceptional manner in which we carried off the Olympic Games brought a sense of renewed hope and spirit.

Keeping Going Through The Winter

Now it is time for the next challenge.  As the cold snap hits, we need to use all of our strength, vitality, and inspiration to prove once more that we are up for the challenge.

What do we need to prove?  What are we seeking to achieve?

Quite simply, we need to remind ourselves what it is that we hold dear.  For too long we have been duped into this consumerist mind set, where our happiness has been dictated by the things we own.  This has been a ploy by financial institutions, governments, and corporations to make us spend spend spend, and look where that has got us.

We can’t allow the financial crisis to get us down, and as the cold weather and grey skies add to our woes, we need to fight back.

What’s Really Important?

Family is important, and so too is health.  Of course our financial security is important too, but we can sacrifice things we don’t need to improve this. It would be impossible to go through our entire lives without having to slow down at some point.

One other thing that is hugely important is Christmas.  Whether you are religious or not, Christian or not, British, European, Asian, Africa, or from the South Pole, Christmas is a time to get together with family and friends and to celebrate what is truly important.

Making Christmas Special

In the past maybe we have been made to believe that the success of Christmas is based on the quantity and value of our gifts.  This is not true.  Advertisers will throw their products at us, but there is no need for us to chase them down like hungry dogs.  Rather let’s focus on making Christmas special for other reasons.

Regardless, Christmas is an expense.  It is nice for the Children to have some presents, and of course food and drink is a necessary part, but you can afford this if you are creative with making some extra money.
